Alpinestars 2012 Offroad Products

Prepare yourself it will be a long post! I am honoured to share with you guys my new technical partnership with Alpinestars for 2012. They have just sent me a bunch of new stuff to use in my blogs, and part of which I will use in the Dakar. But let’s start with my blog project…..I have an idea that I hope you will like! I plan on opening a new category/section in which I want to test and write my thoughts on every Rally bike that is on the market because in my opinion there is no real website or magazine that cover’s the rally world in enough detail, all is very sparse! Other than this I will also open a section named Products where I will give my opinion and test various type of products thanks to the support of the companies interested in my project. One of the main ideas of my project is eventhough I am trying to become a pro-rider I want to always give my honest thoughts (not like Italy and Italians where everything is done to have favours in exchange!). Alpinestars have supported me technically also in 2011 and for me having a collaboration with what I think is one of the top companies in motorsports is like a little dream come true.  Now without continuing on introductions I will give you my overview on the products that they sent me. Let’s begin from the start, this is the package I received this morning

The first product I will show you is the thermal winter underwear. Alpinestars has a big variety of underwear both for winter and for summer. Since in Italy we are going towards winter they sent me the winter pants and shirt. I know it has nothing to do with the product itself but their product packaging is really cool!! 😛

I immediately tried on and tested the underwear which is extremely elastic (as soon as I got the shirt and pants out of the box I thought it was a kid’s size!). Once on I kept them on for a while and they really seem to work, it feels extremely warm infact I will surely use these in the Dakar bivouac and for road section liaisons because in theory this is a product for road use so it’s designed to keep you very warm and probably too warm to use on the offroad section unless you live in Sweden or Finland on the snow!

Carbon B2 Knee Braces, this in my opinion is one of the most interesting products of the Alpinestars 2012 collection. Some years ago I broke my knee ligaments and got a transplant, since then I started using knee braces and never managed to ride ever again without them. I think they are a very important part of protection gear that every rider should wear. The B2 Braces have also the possibility to adjust the angle degree of the knee movement thanks to a complete kit that comes inside the box. Also a comfortable sleeve is included so that the straps don’t bruise your skin.

I always used the CTI Knee braces but seeing the Carbon B2 it seems they have a better design especially on the upper part of the knee thanks to a continuous plastic protection  (on my CTI the upper part of the knee instead was exposed with no protection).

As soon as my head injury is fully recovered I will test everything riding and tell you about how all the products felt.

Boot time! These are the Alpinestars Tech 10, one of the most used boots in AMA Motocross and Supercross championship. The first time I saw them some years ago I was skeptical because differently from all nowadays boots they didn’t have any type of torsion ankle system but once you wear them they feel very good and I can assure you that you immediately manage to ride well right from the first time you wear them .

Furthermore they have an inside shoe which helps you feel totally good inside the boot and one of the biggest quality of the Tech 10 is that water hardly penetrates and you almost never get your feet wet when you ride in rainy conditions. The black rubber on the inside part of the boot is designed to give you a good grip on the frame.

A little curiosity that I have found out last year when I visited Alpinestars (PS. Would you like me to ask if I can do an inside company tour in future to share with you?). I found out why the lower part of the boot is always black. This is because the black plastic is more resistant than any other color so for this reason the part that you use on the footpeg is black, and btw when your alpinestars boot have been worn out you can get this part replaced making the Tech 10 life very long!

These little holes are made in order to let the sweat evaporate but not to let water in keeping your feet dry. PS. If you buy these boots get them 1 size bigger than what you regularly wear because for examply I wear 44.5 Eur size shoes but with the Tech 10 I wear 45.5 Eur size.

Time to look at the Techstar 2012 Gear. Obviously like every year the graphic design is completely new, the shirt has on the sides a lighter material and little holes so that you get some air flow.

On the elbows like last year there is a special soft protection.

The 2012 Techstar pants have a very cool design and look resistant.

They come with inside removable protection which is very comfortable.

These very useful straps are to adjust the width of the pants and I can assure you they are pretty useful so if you get fatter or thinner you don’t have to worry about changing riding pants!

They are designed to perfectly fit the knee braces and are wider on the knees having also a special inner part for the air flow.

The back part of the pants is divided in 2 sections, the outer part is very resistant and protects the inner part which is very elastic so that you always feel good when moving on the bike.

This was my little overview on the 2012 offroad Alpinestars offroad products! I hope you enjoyed it and as soon as I get back on the bike I will tell you more. :)

A big thanks to Alpinestars and to my grandparents that have helped me by taking some photos! Later tonight I will publish another post giving you a glance also at the Alpinestar 2012 City and Casual Wear collection,  super cool stuff!!!

PS. If you liked it please COMMENT and SHARE :) i want to have a direct dialogue with you readers!!!
