Sicily Ep.1: The Arrival

Today i arrived in Sicily for the first round of the European UEM Cross Country Championship in Letojanni (ME). After the Dakar as i told you i am totally broke so its been a bit an adventure to manage to come and race since i have no money not even for training! I am lucky that loads of you are helping me and i want to tell you how i manage to come all the way here!!!

Obviously transporting my bike with my van all the way to Sicily was out of option (more than 1.000km), shipping it would of cost me 300€ so also this was not an option for me. So on Friday i went all the way down to Caserta catching plenty of different local trains managing in order to spend less and went on the truck with Gaetano who has sponsored me last year and is also a good friend of mine so he offered me to go with him so that i wouldn’t have to pay anything. We went on friday night to catch the ferry to Sicily and after a long night (there were such big waves that the ferry “danced” all the journey) we got to Sicily late this morning. Once we were here i went to Endurostore, which is the Husaberg dealer here, and Francesco (the owner) was really kind and  gave me a Husaberg with which to race supporting me also on the entry fee, so big thumbs up for him and for his support. Then another friend of mine (Thomas) that lives here brought me a bit around the city and to the beach track where we will be racing tomorrow and we took a walk under the rain to see all of it since tomorrow’s race works like this: No Practice, 1 Super-pole Qualification Lap and then 2 hours race with obvious pit-stops for refuelling. The track is very similar to last year’s but a bit longer and bit more twisty! After having gone to the track Thomas offered me to sleep at his house where he lives with his wife and child! So thanks to him i also solved the sleeping problem because i couldn’t afford the hotel! We ate all together a pizza, had a nice chat and mounted the Speedview Wireless Goggles in order to test them tomorrow in the race!!! What can i say?? a big thanks to all those people that believe in me and that are helping me going forward in my career!!!! Here some photos of the journey :)
