Abu Dhabi Ep.6: Stage 1

Everything was going ok, from the start of the stage i was constantly getting up in the standings, every Check Point i was gaining positions even though i had my instrumentation broken since km 70 (Roadbook, Iritrack, Cap Repeater, Trip master). At only 7km to the end i was by myself in the desert and just followed the arrow on the GPS and ended up in some gigantic soft dunes and at one point i was unable to go back and didn’t know what to do and had to search for a path to get back in the right direction. Lost 30 minutes and lost 10 positions just in the last little section :( furthermore they gave me a 15 minute penalty because they didn’t give me the time card at the start. Now i am very far behind and surely its going to be an uphill rally for me but will try my best to get better everyday. Being my 4th desert rally i still have difficulty in riding by myself on the dunes, still a lot to learn. Today i rode the first part of the day with Gouet from Chile and then almost all the stage with polish Dabrowski, it helped really a lot to see how they hit the dunes!!! (also have it recorded on my GoPro but tonight i won’t manage to upload). Now briefing, roadbook and dinner accomplished so will head off to mount my tent and go to bed. Here some photos made in the special by friend MCH Photography and some photos made by me with my little camera:
