“I feel i know have the right people around me. The ex-Dakar riders Henk Vercoelen and Willy Wientjes are helping me with the preparation and i have been considerably involved with the development of the Yamaha rally bike with Yamaha France.”
Verhoeven has raced his first Dakar back in 2005. His best result has been 2009 when he ended up 8th overall but in the last years he managed to catch 3 stage wins and several top 5 stage finishes. After having had a lot of bad luck for technical problems, 2013 could finally be the year for him to battle for the very top positions. In the last 2 years Yamaha with Helder Rodrigues managed to get twice on the third step of the podium showing that at the moment they have the second best bike after Ktm.
