The other day chatting with Dave Peckham (a Dakar friend) he told me about the software that him and his partners created in order to give the chance to every rider to easily and quickly create own personalized Road Books. As soon as he sent me the link i went on to try it and it works amazingly. The software is still in its Beta Version and is for free for any user, probably soon some features to buy will be added. www.rallynavigator.com Check out this video and the photos below
You can start from scratch and using Google Earth you can go to the location you want your route to start anywhere in the world and then zoom in to start plotting the points on the tracks and deciding which points you want made into notes by clicking them twice and register a waypoint.
Once you have completed you route you can start editing every note inserting all the info’s like gates, roads, signs, dangers etc. The really cool thing about the software is that it inserts automatically the km’s and the compass degrees on the notes.
At the moment i just tested drawing a route from scratch but Rally Navigator also gives you the chance to import your GPS Track and then make out a Road Book (probably this is what most of us will do).
Once you’ve completed your own Road Book you can directly print it!! Isn’t this an awesome software? I guess many of you will start immediately creating soon 😉 By the way on Rally Navigator site you can also share your Road Books so you can exchange with friends and challenge them to ride your track!!
